Overview

Retailers and their suppliers of retail branded product must take all the reasonable precaution and exercise all due diligence in the development, manufacture, distribution, advertising or sale of food product to the consumer. Suppliers of packaging material to food manufacturers providing retailer branded products, have an obligation to put appropriate systems and controls in place to ensure the suitability of their packaging is safe for food use.

  • What is BRC/IOP?

    The British retail consortium and the institute of packaging have developed a technical standard to assist retailers and food manufacturers in the fulfillment of their legal obligation. The standard will help in the protection of the consumer by providing a common basis for the audit of companies supplying packaging for food products to retailers.

    BRC/IOP standard for food packaging Companies is an industry specific standard which is advisable to achieve the sophisticated collection and analysis of data, including data about the specifications and performance of materials, suppliers and processes used for packaging.

    investè shall ensure that the prerequisites are in place by way of conducting a detailed GAP Analysis and eventually assisting the clients in performing formal hazard analysis of its production process considering microbiological, physical and chemical contamination as well as critical packaging defects critical to consumer safety.

    Using the GAP Analysis investè shall identify and assist in establishing infrastructural requirements to fulfill requirement of factory standards and hygiene requirements.
